Projects…
Well, I managed to finish my bathroom painting project and I’m really happy with the way it turned out. Despite having to do multiple coats of paint to cover what was there and parlaying it into a 2.5 day job, I’m glad I did it. I’m hoping to finally open a book tomorrow for the first time all week.
Right now, I’m trying to figure out why the podpress player isn’t displaying on my podcast page since upgrading to wordpress 2.5.1. There’s actually a 2.6 version out right now but I’m trying to get to the bottom of this issue before adding another upgrade to the mix and ending up twice removed…
So, tomorrow looks like a work around the yard day and get caught up on all that I let slide while putting on my handy man hat.

Summer Days….
The 4th has come and gone and it seems like summer is flying by already. I’ve been extremely busy running errands and working around the yard but man… I LOVE MY SUMMER LIFE!! It’s the simple things that really make me happy:
- Getting up early with my dogs and listening to the birds
- Walking every day
- Being with family
- Having a clean house
- Weeding a bit each day and staying on top of it
- Hanging a load or two on the line every morning
- Doing the daily crossword and sudoku puzzles
- Reading as much as I can
- Wearing my “summer uniform” (bike shorts, tee, sandals)
- Composting and living green
- Getting in bed early with my dogs, books, and laptop
- Rolling over and turning out the light any time I want
Of course, once Patriots Training Camp starts on July 24th, my life will change considerably as I’ll be “on duty” and my free time will be cut way back. However, I do hope to keep up with as much as I can. For now, I’m planning on enjoying each and every moment of being home.

Here’s a link to an audio blog I did for Projo in 2005. A few things have change (like parking and the players mentioned) but basically, the experience has remained the same.

As you know, I’m a garden nut and in addition to my new compost bins, I purchased a couple of rainbarrels to use to collect water for my organic vegetable garden and potted plants. I’m attaching a soaker hose to the one near the garden which I’ll snake among the vegetable plants and will open as needed. The other one is on the other side of the house and I plan on using it to fill my watering can for my hangers and pots.
I ordered them back in May and got them last weekend when they became available for pickup. I finally borrowed a hacksaw to cut my downspouts and just missed a huge downpour today by about 15 minutes. I’m sure there will be plenty more and I’m glad that my lawn, garden, and flowers got a good soaking but it would have been nice to grab that run-off from the roof as well to use on a dry day.
I recently did a quickie Muse with Me Podcast about being green.. You can listen (and watch) the enhanced show #7 here:
I’ve been super busy offline but hope to get another one done this month at some point.
Meanwhile.. I’m waiting for a nice rainy day to fill those barrels and maybe catch up on my reading. (Actually, I’ll even take a sunny day with no commitments to just sit by the pool!) As a friend mentioned to me today, I never seem to have as much free time in the summer as I think I will. Hopefully, that day will come soon!

We lost one of the good guys today… Dan Pires, of the Standard-Times passed away suddenly this morning. For those of us who knew him, it’s a shock. My deepest condolences to his family.
Training camp will not be the same…

Since Al was off last night we were able to take the boat out today. We spent a few hours on Narragansett Bay and it was like a sheet of glass. The boys fished while I read and relaxed. Although they didn’t catch anything, we had a nice time and plan on doing it again when he’s off next week.
Luckily, we left just in time as there were severe thunderstorms with hail this afternoon and evening in the area. Jake and I did get caught in later while at Lincoln Woods in afternoon but I still got my walk in with the girls before it really came down.
Tomorrow is supposed to be gorgeous so I hope to get my errands done, yard work, and clothes on the line early so I can kick back
poolside with a book in the afternoon.
