Finished two Young Adult books this morning sitting by the fire so changing gears and jumping into the latest James Patterson novel, Alex Cross’s Trial.
About the book:
Alex Cross tells the incredible story—passed down through the generations—of an ancestor’s courageous fight for freedom.
SEPARATED BY TIME
From his grandmother, Alex Cross heard the story of his great-uncle Abraham and his struggles for survival in the era of the Ku Klux Klan. Now, Alex passes the family tale along to his own children in a book he’s written—a novel called Trial. More here.
Continuing on my Patterson fest, today’s vacation book is 7th Heaven.
About the book: The beloved son of California’s former governor disappears into the ether. The angel-faced prostitute Junie Moon admits to the crime and Yuki Castellano is faced with the media circus surrounding her prosecution. But is Junie Moon really to blame? At the same time, a serial arsonist is torching some of San Franciso’s most beautiful homes and leaving it’s occupants to suffer terrible deaths in the flames. It doesn’t add up, but Lindsay Boxer is charged with finding the truth.
Cranking out the James Patterson‘s now that school is out. Today’s read is The Quickie.
About the book:
A STOLEN KISS
When she sees her husband with another woman, Lauren Stillwell’s heart nearly stops beating. Her marriage was perfect, she has a great job, she loves her life. But his betrayal turns her into someone she never imagined she could be–a woman lusting for revenge.
IS HER FIRST CRIME
Determined to even the score, Lauren seeks to have her own affair. It was supposed to be a quickie, but Lauren’s night of passion takes a shocking turn when she witnesses an unexpected, unbelievable, and deadly crime. Now her horrifying secret threatens to tear her life apart, pitting her need to uncover the truth against her fear that the truth may be too horrible to bear. And whichever choice she makes may cost her dearly-her job, her marriage.or even her life.
Continuing my quest to crank out as many Patterson books before heading to New Hampshire, today’s oldie that’s been hanging around is You’ve Been Warned. There was a time when I was caught up on his works but I have a stack in my TBR pile. Since they’re quick reads for me, I’m plowing through before vacation so I don’t have quite so many books to lug.
About the book: Kristin Burns has lived her life by the philosophy “Don’t think, just shoot” – pictures, that is. Struggling to make ends meet, she works full-time as the nanny for the fabulously wealthy Turnbull family, looking after their two wonderful children and waiting for her glamorous life as a New York photographer to begin. When her photographs are considered by an elite Manhattan art gallery, it seems she might finally get the chance that will start her career.
Time for another quick read: Cross by James Patterson.
From Booklist
Patterson’s departure from the nursery-rhyme titles in his latest Alex Cross yarn is a tip-off that the focus this time is not so much on the case as on the man. For the first time in Patterson’s 13-year-old series, we relive the day in 1993 when Cross’ wife, Maria, was murdered. Alex was a young gun with the D.C. police then, and Maria was a social worker in the poorest and most dangerous section of the city before she became the victim of a drive-by shooting.
I’ve fallen behnd on my James Patterson books… there was a time when I had read every one and awaited the publishing of the newest book. I’ve got a huge stack from my sister-in-law to read. Run for your Life was on the top of the pile so it’s up! While his work is usually predictable it’s generally a quick read for me and I still like him.
About the book: A calculating killer who calls himself The Teacher is taking on New York City, killing the powerful and the arrogant. His message is clear: remember your manners or suffer the consequences! For some, it seems that the rich are finally getting what they deserve. For New York’s elite, it is a call to terror. Only one man can tackle such a high-profile case: Detective Mike Bennett…..
I always read all of James Patterson‘s books and I’ve had this one for awhile. I’ll be able to blow through it in one or two sittings though since his work is usually a super quick read. The 6th Target is part of the Women’s Murder Club series.
