Declutter Challenge

Self Imposed Declutter Challenge!

Last year was an excellent year of reading for me. Most of my books came from the library which was great for the pocketbook and is how I usually roll. I have however, accumulated many books over the years that I’ve either gotten from people or have purchased because they caught my fancy. I always have great intentions and plan on reading them but what happens is this:  I frequent the library regularly and undoubtedly find books that I want to read. So, I take them home and since they have a lending period and must be returned within a specified amount of time, I read them first. My own books end up getting pushed aside. That, coupled with the great recommendations of new books from fellow book lovers has contributed to my ever growing TBR pileS at home.

So, my plan for this year is to read from my own “shelves” aka BAGS of books that have taken up much needed space in my home. I’m planning on reading at a 5:1 ratio until I exhaust my piles.  Five books from home to one library book. This includes books that my sister-in-law has passed on to me. Once I read them, I can send them back to clutter up her place…lol. But, this does not include mp3 audio books that I download from the library though, as I use those for a different purpose. I listen while out running errands, cleaning, and working out when I wouldn’t otherwise be sitting down to read a paper book anyway.

Once I read from my pile, I am passing them on…. and gaining some storage space!
