Support Your Local Library Reading Challenge

I just signed up for  the 100+ Book Challenge and since I’m a library user, I’m getting in on this one as well. Books count for both so I’m going to shoot for 75- Stepping It Up since at least 3/4 of the books that I’ll read will definitely be library books.  If the numbers for the challenges are even higher,  then that’s even better!   This challenge is J. Kaye’s 2010 Support Your Local Library Challenge.

Details are here:

1. Anyone can join. You don’t need a blog to participate.

2. There are four levels:

–The Mini – Check out and read 25 library books.

–Just My Size – Check out and read 50 library books.

–Stepping It Up – Check out and read 75 library books.

–Super Size Me – Check out and read 100 library books.

(Aim high. As long as you read 25 by the end of 2010, you are a winner.)

3. Audio, Re-reads, eBooks, YA, Young Reader – any book as long as it is checked out from the library count. Checked out like with a library card, not purchased at a library sale.

4. No need to list your books in advance. You may select books as you go. Even if you list them now, you can change the list if needed.

5. Crossovers from other reading challenges count.

6. Challenge begins January 1st thru December, 2010.

100+ Reading Challenge

100+ Reading Challenge

I’m joining in J.Kaye’s 100+ Book Challenge for 2010. I know that some months it will be harder to read than others but I do have some good “catch-up” months when I don’t have school.  It begins in January and runs through December, 2010.  I’ll be coming back to this post to update at the end of each month. Wish me luck!

Details:
1. The goal is to read 100 or more books. Anyone can join. You don’t need a blog to participate.

2. Audio, Re-reads, eBooks, YA, Library books, Young Reader, Nonfiction – as long as the book has an ISBN or equivalent or can be purchased as such, the book counts.

3. No need to list your books in advance. You may select books as you go. Even if you list them now, you can change the list if needed.

4. Crossovers from other reading challenges count.

5. Challenge begins January 1st thru December, 2010. Books started before the 1st do not count.

Head over to J. Kaye’s site to sign up!

Beginning my first book in the Holiday Reading Challenge.  It’s A Christmas Grace by Anne Perry. I’ve never read her before but wanted to start with audio books so I could be sure to have time to get through the challenge.

About the book: With Christmas approaching, Emily Radley, Charlotte’s sister is suddenly called from London to be with her dying aunt.  Alone, she makes the journey to Connemara, on the west coast of Ireland.  A tragic legacy haunts this close-knit community and a lone shipwreck survivor threatens to unlock old wounds, but also to offer a solution to an old crime and bring peace and resolution to the community.

My thoughts: This was my first holiday book for the season and it really didn’t have that much to do with Christmas other than Emily having to miss Christmas with her immediate family.  I had never read Anne Perry before and the book was ok and was a quick read.  It was enjoyable enough and was light reading. I always like to “read” books set in another country  and period as an audio book, especially if the reader has an accurate accent. I was able to be transported to the time and place and could picture the characters and settings. I would read her again.
