Well, I managed to finish my bathroom painting project and I’m really happy with the way it turned out. Despite having to do multiple coats of paint to cover what was there and parlaying it into a 2.5 day job, I’m glad I did it. I’m hoping to finally open a book tomorrow for the first time all week.

Right now, I’m trying to figure out why the podpress player isn’t displaying on my podcast page since upgrading to wordpress 2.5.1. There’s actually a 2.6 version out right now but I’m trying to get to the bottom of this issue before adding another upgrade to the mix and ending up twice removed…

So, tomorrow looks like a work around the yard day and get caught up on all that I let slide while putting on my handy man hat.

I’ve been extremely busy running errands and working around the yard but man… I LOVE MY SUMMER LIFE!! It’s the simple things that really make me happy:

Getting up early with my dogs and listening to the birds

Walking every day

Being with family

Having a clean house

Weeding a bit each day and staying on top of it

Hanging a load or two on the line every morning

Doing the daily crossword and sudoku puzzles

Reading as much as I can

Wearing my “summer uniform” (bike shorts, tee, sandals)

Composting and living green

Getting in bed early with my dogs, books, and laptop

Rolling over and turning out the light any time I want

Of course, once Patriots Training Camp starts on July 24th, my life will change considerably as I’ll be “on duty” and my free time will be cut way back. However, I do hope to keep up with as much as I can. For now, I’m planning on enjoying each and every moment of being home.

The other one is on the other side of the house and I plan on using it to fill my watering can for my hangers and pots.

I ordered them back in May and got them last weekend when they became available for pickup. I finally borrowed a hacksaw to cut my downspouts and just missed a huge downpour today by about 15 minutes. I’m sure there will be plenty more and I’m glad that my lawn, garden, and flowers got a good soaking but it would have been nice to grab that run-off from the roof as well to use on a dry day.

I recently did a quickie Muse with Me Podcast about being green.. You can listen (and watch) the enhanced show #7 here:

Muse007: On Being Green

I’ve been super busy offline but hope to get another one done this month at some point.

Meanwhile.. I’m waiting for a nice rainy day to fill those barrels and maybe catch up on my reading. (Actually, I’ll even take a sunny day with no commitments to just sit by the pool!) As a friend mentioned to me today, I never seem to have as much free time in the summer as I think I will. Hopefully, that day will come soon!

So finally… I’ve gotten to relax! I’m still on my daily walk route with the girls and as of today (Monday) we’ve done the 2.5 mile loop around the pond each morning. I look forward to that start to each day, and so do the girls. They get so excited when we pull in that they’re practically jumping out of their seats but once we get walking, they calm down and we can all enjoy nature.

On Saturday, I scrubbed down all of the patio furniture and the pool deck enclosure, swept the patio, weeded, and worked in the garden a bit. Of course, the line was filled with laundry all weekend as well. But… by Saturday afternoon, I was sitting poolside with a book and even floated awhile to cool off. Later, the screen porch called my name and I lounged out with my books and girls to get out of the sun. Saturday night was movie and wine night as usual.

Sunday… more of the same! Like I said… ahhhhhh!

When I got home, they napped and I set to work in the yard. My flower beds and garden are fully weeded and are looking fiiiine!

Later, I put together the two compost bins and moved my compost heap back. I’ve got a nice blister as the result of my efforts but tis ok with me. It’ll be nice to have the compost contained and easily accessible from the bottom when it’s ready rather than having to dig up entire piles to get to the good stuff.

Then I ran some errands: library, school to feed my fish, Jacob drop-off(s) and pick-up(s), etc. We got some rain tonight which nixxed my evening walk at the Monastery with the girls but was welcome just the same. I love the green look of spring and early summer. It totally puts me at peace and makes me smile.

This evening, I finally did a quick PatriotWorld Podcast. I’ll do another as soon as the Training Camp schedule is released and there’s more going on. Now that Pats news is focused on the future, I’ll be tuning in once again. I haven’t turned on the NFL Network or listened to any sports talk radio all offseason. I like to focus on the positive so I steered clear of the Monday morning quarterbacking and debacle news.

Tomorrow, I plan on walking the girls, staking some plants, getting my laundry on the line early and hopefully spend a bit of time relaxing and reading by the pool. It hasn’t happened yet, but getting things accomplished makes me very happy.
