NaBloPoMo #30 brrrrr!

Just got in from a freezing cold 9 hour stint in the pouring rain at the Pats game and I’ve got the chills. Flannel PJs, a pot of tea, and 3 furry girls cuddled against me in bed sounds wonderful and it’s where I’m heading ASAP!

Unfortunately the Pats had a crushing defeat  and will be an uphill battle to make the playoffs this season from here on out. It’s still possible, but the boys will have to win them all, and we’ll need some help from some other teams in L column.

For now, I’m putting today’s loss to rest and planning on hunkering down under the covers and will deal with it and all I have to do tomorrow.

See you next November, NaBloPoMo!  I’m very proud that I made it through on my first attempt. :-)

NaBloPoMo #29 Early Night

I’m all curled up in bed  with the 3 girls and have to type with one hand  while balancing the laptop with the other because I don’t want to  squish Little Sugar who is asleep in my lap. Today flew by although it seemed like I did nothing. We went to a funeral this morning, then did our tailgate shopping and I tucked in early tonight.  Al’s out this evening so we’re not having our usual Wine and Movie night so I think I’ll take advantage of the quiet night and roll over to do some reading or…. perhaps even closing my eyes and drifting off.

Tomorrow is the last day of November and it’s a VERY important game for the Pats. We’re playing the Steelers at home so I’ll get up early to cook then we’ll head out to our tailgate. It’s hard to believe that the long weekend will soon be coming to an end. See you tomorrow for the final NaBloPoMo!

NaBloPoMo #27 Happy Thanksgiving

I got up really early this morning and started my baking at 4:45AM, then set out to make the turkey, set the table and make the sides. This was such a different Thanksgiving for us since it was only the 4 of us instead of 25-30.  It was nice to all sit at the table together, light the candles, and use the good dishes and stemware.  (Having the whole family together is nice too, but different.)  My brother and his family came by for dessert  and for a visit (Read: to see the dogs!) then I went to my sister-in-laws in the evening to pick names for Christmas.

It took awhile to get everything cleaned up then I made some soup stock which I froze for quick soup meals this winter. Right now, I’m finally relaxing in bed and will be rolling over soon. Hope you all had a great day and spent it in a way that makes you happy. :-)

NaBloPoMo #26 2nd Thanksgiving

Great day at school today as we celebrated our second Thanksgiving feast. This time it was with our team.  My kids and I made 40 lbs. of mashed potatoes this morning and it worked out perfectly since there was no way that I would have had the room to store them had I made them at home myself last night. Everyone had a great day, pitched in  and behaved wonderfully. Days like this make me so thankful and appreciative of my kids and the job that I have.

Sugar had a good day today but we kept her in her crate when we weren’t around to prevent the 3 of them from wrestling and she made out fine.  Right now, we’re all tucked in bed and she’s sleeping on my lap and the other two are laying against my legs so the position isn’t the most conducive to typing. I really have to cut it short anyway as I’ve got tons to do in the morning and plan on getting up early to get it all done. I haven’t done a thing yet and my list is quite long.  Hope everyone has a great day tomorrow. I’m sure I won’t be on until tomorrow night for #27.

NaBloPoMo #25 Post-Op

Today was the big day for Sugar’s spay surgery and right now I have 3 furry bundles all curled up with me in the bed. She made out fine although she’s slept and been groggy since we’ve gotten home. Bella and Chloe sensed that something was up as they’ve just been sniffing her and giving her kisses. I expect that tonight will be fine as we’re already tucked in but tomorrow and each day after that will be harder to keep them from playing and jumping around. At least when I had the other two done, they were together and both out of it at the same time. They also had those lovely lampshades on which detered the licking. Sugar’s too small so she just has a t-shirt on. I’ll have to keep her in a crate when we can’t supervise them but it won’t be for long.

NaBloPoMo #24 I love Twitter <3

Back to work today and my boys are home from Florida so it’s not an “online night” so I’m making it quick. But, since I’m still going strong with NaBloPoMo, I’m not about to quit now. So.. tonight is short but sweet:

I LOVE TWITTER!! <3

On Friday, I had to restore my old laptop that the kids use because it was no longer booting up. It hadn’t worked in quite awhile but since they were going away, I spent a few hours getting it up and running so they could take it. Tonight, I updated the service packs and needed some anti virus software since the old Norton had expired. A simple tweet asking if there was a preference for Norton or McAfee resulted in immediate responses urging me to NOT pay but to try the free AVG virus software.  Thanks guys!  I installed it, ran it and saved myself $39.95 a year. Perfect… since the laptop will only be used occasionally anyway.

Twitter helpers :)

NaBloPoMo #22 Baby it’s cold outside!

Someone please tell the calendar that it’s not February, please!  It’s been freezing here all week and today was a whopper!  I needed to get some things done in the yard that I’ve been putting off due to not having the time to get out there. Since the boys are gone, I used today to get caught up on things that I needed to do.  The best method was to alternate going outside to work, doing some housework inside, and catching up online.  It worked out pretty well since staying outside for an extended amount of time wasn’t feasible (brrrr!), and getting lost online would have been easy, resulting in not getting anything else done. By setting a time and breaking things up, I was able to have a very productive day and nothing was overlooked.

Tomorrow I plan on making my shopping lists, catching up on the Jets Tailgate, watching my boys at 1:00, getting everything ready for Monday’s workday and getting in bed nice and early. Sounds good to me.

NaBloPoMo #21 Giving Thanks

Today was our annual classroom Thanksgiving dinner and we all had a wonderful time. Syd (my co-teacher) and I put the turkeys in the ovens early this morning, then when the kids came in, they prepared the rest of the meal (with our help of course.)  It was a great day and everyone pitched in with the cooking, set-up and clean-up. Before we ate, everyone shared what they were thankful for.  I love that part.

I’m personally so very thankful for my family (human and canine ;-) , my health, that I have a job that I love (despite the paperwork and the fact that I have to work), that I have a modest but comfortable home and that we’re economically stable. Of course my life is not perfect and there are things that I wish I could change but all in all, I have a GREAT life and I’m a very lucky girl. <3
