I did it! NaBloPoMo 2009

Yes, I did!

Yes, I did!

I made it!  So, my posts may not have been the most earth shattering things but I did post every day for the entire month of November.  I spent lots of time reading books and posting on the Book Nook too. I look at the NaBloPoMo as a commitment and if I say I’m going to do it, I need to stick to it. They say it takes 21 days to form a habit so maybe this experience will encourage me to blog more…

Tonight, the Pats take on the undefeated Saints on Monday Night Football and it’s going to be a big game!  I’ve got the jitters already and will be watching intently so I’m posting early. I’ve got another super busy week ahead and I’m making my To Do list out and trying to divide tasks out evenly so as to not be behind the 8 ball come the weekend.

I’ve come a long way since the beginning of the month. I’m pretty much fully recovered from surgery and I’m back to work and the gym. I’m  still not sleeping and I’m tired but I’m managing. Since Thanksgiving has come and gone and I don’t really go crazy for Christmas, I should be able to make it through December no worse for the wear.

Well, time to switch all of my attention (and nerves) to tonight’s game so it’s time to unplug… Go Pats!!!!

Almost there….

Just one day to go for NaBloPoMo…. I fell asleep on the couch after finishing another book and I almost blew it!  I spent most of the day reading.  :-) It was a great end to a productive weekend. I’m beat so just jump over to the Book Nook to see what I read.

Movies, movies, movies

new-moon1It’s funny how things happen. Yesterday when I was out with a friend for lunch, she mentioned that she was going to the movies that afternoon with her nephew. I told her that I hadn’t gone to the show with my husband since Fatal Attraction!  I’ve been to the theater a few times over the years with the kids  when they were little but he and I usually watch DVDs at home on Saturday nights.

Well…. don’t you know that last night, without even knowing about my earlier conversation, he says to me out of the clear blue, “What do you think about going to the movies tomorrow night to see New Moon?”  How’s that for a coincidence?

Just got home and we both enjoyed it. Of course, I’ve read all of the books so I knew what was going to happen but it was great to see it on the big screen. Now I don’t have to wait 6 months to see it on DVD.

It’s a movie weekend for sure as we watched 3 DVDs last night (My Sister’s Keeper, The Ugly Truth and American Violet) and have a stack left to watch tonight and tomorrow night (Patriots are on Monday Night Football.)

So, between the reading that I’m doing and the movies that I’m watching I’ve been a content consuming girl this weekend. Time to head downstairs for the second feature of the night.

Rainy Friday

No Black Friday shopping for me… but I loved having the day off.  I started the day off with the gym, went out for lunch with my friend and tried to stay warm and out of the cold rain. The girlies had the right idea!!

Movie and wine night, so unplugging!  TTFN!

Happy Thanksgiving

I started the morning with my usual early morning muffin making then got busy getting the meal prepared. It was a quiet day, with just my two boys (and 3 furry girls) in the house this year. I made plenty of food and Al took some leftovers to work to feed some of his coworkers who missed Thanksgiving dinner because they were working this year. I’m glad that they were able to enjoy it!

I spent a lot of time in the kitchen cooking and cleaning and now it’s time to put my feet up and give thanks.  I’m very lucky to have my family, my health, and all of my many blessings.   I don’t need a fancy life.. I love the one that I have. :-)

Ready for a 4 day weekend!

Two Thanksgiving Dinners are down and one to go!  I’m making a small meal tomorrow for my husband and son since Al’s working tonight and tomorrow night so he’ll be sleeping most of the day. I always used to host the entire family (both sides) but we’ve outgrown the space as the families have grown. We can still pull it off for 4th of July because we have the yard and porch but in November, that doesn’t fly. I don’t think I would have been up to a huge crew this year though, even if we did have the room and he wasn’t working.  I’m looking forward to a quiet weekend to try to catch up on sleep and relax.

Of course, the fall decor will come down and the Christmas domestics will go up and I’ll get some workouts in but I’m really hoping to sleep and catch up on my reading this weekend. I just got a stack of books from the library that came in at once so I need to get busy.

Right now, I have a cheesecake in the oven and I’m about to pour a glass of wine and start the relaxing.  I’ll be up early tomorrow making homemade muffins then preparing the dinner so I hope to read until I fall asleep.

Back to the gym

Now that I’m feeling better, I’ve been starting to head back to the gym. (Special thanks to Big Al, who has been faithful right along and has encouraged me to go with him.)  I’m also looking forward to getting back to my Yoga practice and will be starting that up again this week as well.

It’s a busy week with another school Thanksgiving and a small one here on Thursday. I got my shopping done tonight because I want to avoid the market at all costs on Wednesday!  It’s been another week of meetings but thankfully, there’s only 2 days of work left then a 4 day weekend!

Bed, book and pot of tea is calling!  TTFN!

Book Nook

One of my favorite reading spots....

One of my favorite reading spots....

While I’ve made it a point to specifically post here every day in November for NaBloPoMo, I don’t have to TRY to post at my book blog since I post pretty regularly. So, if you’re a reader or curious about my books, check out Karen’s Book Nook. :-) Thank goodness for audio books to help satisfy my craving because my “sit down with a good book” time is limited during the school year. I am able to plug in and multitask to read while working out, working around the house and yard and running errands. And now, I am actually going to open a paper book and make a pot of tea before bed while I have some time. Happy Reading!
