NaBloPoMo #20

I should be in bed… I’m tired and I’ve got a big day ahead of me tomorrow because my class is cooking a Thanksgiving dinner and I need to go in extra early to get the turkey in the oven. (The kids are cooking everything else!)  I’m up though, because it seems that when technology fails it seems to be catchy. I’ve mentioned in the past that my iPod won’t mount and there doesn’t seem to be anything that I can do about it. :(  I’m quite ticked about that not only because I don’t have the money to waste on a new iPod right now but because they only seem to last less than 2 years and I don’t think they should be “disposable technology”. It doesn’t seem that Apple has even acknowledged the problem and it occurred when I upgraded iTunes.  I even took it apart (nothing to lose) to see if something wasn’t connected or was dirty but everything looked ok.

I did have better luck tonight with our old laptop that hasn’t been able to boot up for the last month. It’s been hanging on the start up screen so I reinstalled everything and have been waiting for the updates to finish all night. The boys are heading to Florida for the Miami game and would like to have a laptop for the trip. (Since I’m not going, they’re on their own this time around.)

I’ll be home with the girls and hope to have a productive weekend. For now, I’m beat and heading to bed for a couple of hours before my day begins.

What a difference a day makes

Last night…

I was totally stressed out looking at my huge To Do list with little time to pull it all off. At the beginning of the week, I tackled our spare room in the basement and worked for 12 hours decluttering and cleaning. I knew I still had training camp ahead of me all week and also need to go to school to set up my classroom.

In the meantime my son decided that he wanted to paint his room,  so in addition to helping him, my house was a disaster during the remodel and it drove me nuts. I had camp all week, which also meant website updates, training camp reports and nightly podcasting. Last night, I was getting worked up trying to come up with a plan to do it all.

Today

I got up early this morning, headed out to Target with Jake to get new bedding and curtains and helped him finish off that room. When I got to camp today, they said that they added another practice (Friday, 8/15 from 12-2)  I definitely can’t make that one as I already have 3 appointments scheduled for Friday.  So, since tomorrow is my only day that I can make it to school, I’m not going to tomorrow’s, 2:30 session either. (Since my perfect streak will be broken anyway on Friday, it’s almost easier to not go tomorrow now too and do the right thing by getting in that room.)

Tonight…

I came home, wrote my final training camp report, spent a few hours getting my house back in order, balanced my checkbook, did my online banking,  and recorded my final training camp podcast. Knowing that they’re in the bag (and that I have no more to do)  has lifted a huge weight from my shoulders. And, if I can set up most of my room before I head out for vacation, I’ll have no worries about that next week either and can truly relax.

“Tomorrow”

My daughter already asked about painting her room but that baby will have to wait until Labor Day weekend. I’ve still got tons to do before I leave but at least the “major” things will be behind me.

Projects…

Well, I managed to finish my bathroom painting project and I’m really happy with the way it turned out. Despite having to do multiple coats of paint to cover what was there and parlaying it into a 2.5 day job, I’m glad I did it. I’m hoping to finally open a book tomorrow for the first time all week.

Finished bathroom

Right now, I’m trying to figure out why the podpress player isn’t displaying on my podcast page since upgrading to wordpress 2.5.1. There’s actually a 2.6 version out right now but I’m trying to get to the bottom of this issue before adding another upgrade to the mix and ending up twice removed… ;-)

So, tomorrow looks like a work around the yard day and get caught up on all that I let slide while putting on my handy man hat.
